Reasons Why My Engine Warning Light Turned On?
If your engine warning light turned on, you’ll want to take it into the shop, no matter why it turned on. Still, knowing some of the top reasons why the light is on can help you prepare for how much you’ll be spending to fix it.
Engine Warning Lights Causes
- Loose gas cap: the only one that will let you stay away from the car shop. A loose gas cap can cause your engine light to turn on, so make sure that its tight before checking the light again. If it turns off, then it was probably only the gas cap.
- Spark Plugs: this is a fix that doesn’t cost as much as the other problems you can encounter. Depending on how busy the shop is, you can potentially have your car back within an hour or two.
- Catalytic Converter: this is more expensive than the other two and is a bit more involved than replacing a spark plug, and can sometimes be damaged when a malfunctioning spark plug isn’t replaced when it should be.
